Last week's opening night and a Wonky Life

Hi Art Fans!

Last week's opening reception at the Conroe Art League on 10/8 was so much fun! One new artist in particular really caught my eye. She displayed some truly beautiful vintage car photographs. I'll post some photos from the show, below. But if you'd like to see this month's entire collection (including a piece of my own work), click here: https://conroeartleague.com/Now-Showingconroeartleague.com/Now-Showing
There's a lot to do in downtown Conroe these days. After you enjoy our gallery you can shop or see a live show. There are now TWO theatres! I also noticed 2 new shops had opened since my last stroll down Main Street. One sells custom handmade clothing and the other caters to folks looking for vintage threads. You should check them out!
I spent a good portion of today working in the ol' studio and I still have work to frame this evening. I'll post a small work-in-progress below. Tentatively, I am calling it Wonky Life.

Let me know what you think in the comments, below. What would you like me to blog about next?

Busy Daze

I was so busy this last week that I didn't have time to post at all. Sorry about that!

Among my many activities was a fun triple bill concert at the Cynthia Woods Pavillion, driving 3 hours to Waxahachie then turning around and driving back the next day, pet sitting for a couple of families a.m. and p.m. (YAY! SO FUN!), spending the usual 35 hours a week or so caring for my son and our own animals, working my tail off contracting for another company and, of course, creating art and entering some shows. Whew!

I'm beat, but it's all good. Here are a few photos...
These works were on display at the Conroe Art League's September show.
Inquiries may call or text 832-549-1730.

I love this artwork, but Conroe Art League doesn't allow any nudes. (Crazy, right?) So, it has not been shown anywhere, yet. If you'd like to hang it at your gallery or business or purchase it for yourself, here's the 411:

"Love Connection is Imbalanced"
21"H x 17"W x 1"D
Mix Media on Canvas, wood frame
$1000.00

You can also see how our friend Musu fixed my hair after I whacked off my braid for charity week before last.  If you're looking for a nice hairdresser, give her a call. You'll be glad you did: 281-841-5833. Thank you, Musu! Speaking of which...

I packed this 20" bad girl up and shipped her off to help some little kid that doesn't have any hair. In case you missed it during my last post, here's the link to learn more:

Highly recommend!

This is something fun I worked on today. Trying to figure out how I want to frame it. The paint is too thick for a floater frame. Hm-m-m...

"Stairway"
9"H x 12"W (unframed)
Acrylic Paint, #497 Pencil, Sharpie Marker, Sharpie Paint Pen, Colored Pencils on Paper
(price available after framing)

October is off to a great start, so far. Hope you all have had a great weekend!

Sunday is my FUN day! So many pleasant accomplishments. I worked on this small abstract piece that's been in progress for a couple of weeks now. How do you like it so far? Tentatively I am calling it Violet Hills, but that could change...

This work is mix media on Gesso board. Acrylic, #497 pencil, paint pen and oil stick, so far.

I might post a short video about something completely unrelated later this evening if I have time. Stay tuned!

Happy Sunday Art Lovers!

Why, oh, why do we have to take care of so many tedious little tasks everyday? I just want to create from dawn until dark. But, that's not how life is...is it?

I didn't have time to create a small representational piece today and for that I feel a little anxious and annoyed. But, when I was creating I was in such a place of...I don't know if there are words...perfect union with the Divine. The rest of life feels like running around and around in circles burning Life energy to me. Maybe a little moment of beauty here or there. A loved one. A smile.

So, I'll post a small stream of consciousness piece I completed today as well as an abstract painting that I started last week that, as far as I know, is still in progress.  I also started another abstract painting on panel today, but it's wet, so you can't see it right now. BLEH! ;-P

I know that I said I was moving into representational work a couple of posts back, but then I got the bright idea that I could do all of the above in a single day. Guess I was wrong. Oh, dreaded daily responsibilities!!!!

*sigh*

Head study of a cat...

Good Evening Art Lovers!

Today I repaired a large painting that had been damaged at a gallery pre-COVID and I started a small painting for CAL's 12x12 show this coming January. I can't show you either one of those because they are still wet and wouldn't look like much.

BUT, I also completed a small drawing which I will post below. Enjoy!

What I've been up to. Where I'm going.

Sorry I didn't post last Sunday. I have been creating, but I'm pulled in so many direction at times that I was not able to post. So, this week, I thought I'd show you two very different types of work.

I've enjoyed creating abstract paintings and stream-of-consciousness drawings for the last several months. I really don't want to stop because they bring me so much joy, but I feel like, partly out of necessity, I need to switch gears.

Below are two pieces that I finished today. They demonstrate where I've just been and where I'll be going...for a couple of months, at least. Let me know what you think!
